Car Washing
Wash your car on your lawn, using water from a bucket. Alternatively, consider using a commercial car wash that recycles water.

Avoid Oil Spills
If you change the oil in your vehicle yourself, collect and recycle the used oil at a service station or automotive supply store. Be sure to avoid spills and leaks. If spills occur, use an absorbent material to contain the oil.

Clean Boating
If you own a boat, you can help reduce water pollution through proper fueling, waste disposal and maintenance. When cleaning your boat, use detergents sparingly, and use environmentally-friendly cleaning methods and products such as baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice. Protect sensitive habitat by moving slowly in shallow areas.
