Saving Rain For A Sunny Day

Since January, artists throughout greater Cincinnati have been busy painting rain barrels. Following the examples of past flying pig statue events, 42 artist groups worked their magic to turn dull green and brown rain barrels into true “works of art”. These rain barrels will be on display at the Cincinnati Zoo’s ‘Go Green Garden’ from April 5 th to April 18th. Then on April 18th, selected rain barrels will be part of a silent auction during the Party for the Planet celebration in conjunction with the Tunes ‘n Blooms music festival on that same day. Come out for some fun and spring time weather! Take advantage of this opportunity to get a rain barrel that will be a creative and colorful accent piece for your landscaping. Remember that rain barrels are an easy and inexpensive way to conserve water and save money.

Admission to the Zoo is free on April 18th beginning at 5 pm.

Also —visit the save local waters Facebook page and vote for your favorite rain barrel! Informational displays are being planned by the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati and the Sanitation District 1 of Northern Kentucky. Both groups have produced instructional DVD’s and other rain barrel educational materials.
